Black Holes and other female Phenomena
In the following period I am heading for a Research in three Residencies.
During the residencies, I will deepen my continuing exploration and develop new work in collaboration with actress Karin Moog. The research explores what it means to be an older woman in a world oscillating between egalitarian progress and a resurgence of patriarchal systems. From three disparate angles: my ongoing writing, which combines personal reflections with universal themes, envisioning possible global and cosmic futures with greater equity; a series of conversations and movement sessions with elder women, providing a perspective on the end of life; and an investigation into astrophysical imagery, such as black holes, as metaphors for transformation. How can personal history inform a societal evolution and collective possibilities, and draw connections between the microscopic and the cosmic. We will gather these materials -from personal narratives to visual and scientific sources- to develop theatrical forms about the interconnectedness of personal and universal experiences.
For this I need this gathering of material to develop theatrical forms that reflect the interconnectedness of personal and universal experiences, from personal narratives to visual and scientific sources, and create a video archive of the physicality of elder women.
I envisage now the research and development proceeds as follows:
- Conversations with women aged 80+ in Essen Nord, 60+ Senioren and WerkStadt.
- Collect movement material based on their physical states in a video archive.
- Review the interview- and my textmaterials.
- Work in the studio with the archive of text and movement.
- Study theories and visual representations of the universe -black holes or planets colliding; implosions and explosions. Select and compare these to microbes and other small entities in the human body.
- We dive deeper into metaphysical phenomena, with a 360 degrees video installation and insert physical and vocal elements performed by Karin Moog, as metaphors of the universe as human condition: a collapsed state with immense potential for new beginnings.
