The performance Gulliver, a children’s revolution is created by school children from grades 5 and 6.
The pupils of primary schools Crescendo, Capelle, De Witte Olifant, Huibersschool and De Visserschool dance, tell and fantasize about what their city and neighborhood looks like in an ideal world.
In Gulliver’s Travels, the little people of Lilliput live in a harmonious and equal community on an island. A storm breaks loose and the giant Gulliver washes up on their island. The little people of Lilliput engage in a hilarious physical battle with the giant and tie him up, but they have to move on together. The children play and dance the roles of the Lilliputians and the giant is danced by an adult dancer from ICK. Using the method of ICK and the educational material Toolkit Sensorium, Susanne Marx made this performance together with the children in a series of dance lessons with self-created movements and texts. The children work from the WE, with the whole group instead of from the individual.
With this innovative dance education project, choreographer and dance teacher Susanne Marx is developing the educational trajectory for more dance education, started in 2015, with the leading City Dance Company ICK Amsterdam, and the Dance Teacher Department of the Theaterschool Amsterdam.
Terug van een succesvolle presentatie in New York:
GULLIVER in the LINCOLN CENTER
De New Yorkers waren onder de indruk van het project. Het was fantastisch om gedachtes uit te wisselen over het werken met deze kinderen in dit dansproject.
